His largest stake is in his firm Icahn Enterprises (NYSE: IEP), which was created when a diversified holding company controlled by Icahn bought out his hedge fund business. It was formerly known as American Real Estate Partners.

Icahn's On A Rampage

Carl Icahn is preparing to wage a proxy fight against Yahoo (YHOO), using 59 million shares as his club. But Icahn doesn’t really own all those shares. He only bought 9.9 million. How can Carl Icahn hold the rest without actually owning them? It’s because of an old strategy that Icahn and other corporate raiders used in the 1980s of using matching put-and-call options. Here’s how it works. -Stock Article Link

Carl Icahn leads the Yahoo! fight.

Mr. Icahn’s interest comes less than two weeks after Microsoft withdrew a $47.5 billion offer for Yahoo after being rebuffed. The deadline for board nominations is Thursday.

Mr. Icahn has told associates that he bought as many as 50 million shares of Yahoo — worth more than $1 billion — in anticipation of pressing for seats on its board. He has also inquired at Microsoft, through various friends, whether he could help bring that company back to the negotiating table, these people said. He has received little encouragement, these people said, because Microsoft has insisted that it has “moved on.” -Stock Article Link

If Carl Icahn bought his shares during the Microsoft bid, then he has all the motivation in the world to find a buyer. Let's hope it's not another Motorola fiasco.

Thinking of buying Motorola (MOT). Think again.

A $10 stock might look cheap but with so much competition in the handset business, it's hard for Motorola to gain any ground.

"About a year ago, Carl Icahn bought 3.6% of the company's stock, either directly or through long-term options, for about $18.36 per share, or almost twice its current price. He was unsuccessful in securing a board seat last April in his proxy battle against then incumbent management. He could have gotten out then with not much of a loss. The market gods were trying to tell him something, but he failed to hear the message."-Stock Article Link

All smiles for Carl Icahn with his purchase of BEAS

Getting BEA Systems taken over is exactly what investing guru, Carl Icahn was expecting and today, Oracle launches $6.7 billionn bid for BEA sending the stock soaring from $13.62 to $18.22 !

Icahn said back in August, he expected higher offers to emerge from rivals of Oracle, naming International Business Machines Corp (IBM) and Hewlett-Packard Co (HPQ).

BEA rejects $6.7 billion Oracle offer, rival bids seen

Carl Icahn had more than 51 million shares. Sweet !

Now if only WCI Communities can go back up to $20 where he holds 6 million shares. I noticed SAIC capital also has 40 million shares of WCI stock.

WCI near it's 52 week low...Is this an opportunity to buy now?

Since Carl Icahn's $22 tender offer was been rejected and the stock, WCI Communities (WCI) which builds hi-rise condos in Florida, is close near it's 52 week low trading at $14.28 on Friday. Is this an opportunity to buy? It's book value is at $23.19. It is heavily shorted. Almost 37%!

Billionaire financier and activist investor Carl Icahn isn't giving up that easily, who has a 14.6 percent stake in the company, said on Feb. 15 that he wants to replace the entire WCI board of directors.

"WCI is actually trading for less than its shareholder equity. But what do you think red ink and asset writedowns do to book value?" -Dumb Move, WCI
