How would you like to lose 4.4 billion?

That is how much investing guru Eddie Lampert has lost (paper loss though) since the third quarter.

"Lampert is a 24.8 million-share owner of Citi(C). He purchased a 9.5 million-share chunk of the financial giant in the second quarter at $52.42 a share. With its closing price of $33.10 a share Friday, the stake is worth $821 million, a $500 million loss."-Stock Article Link

It takes a lot of confidence to stay concentrated in your holdings. -Stock Article Link

Robert Rubin (Lampert's mentor back when he was at Goldman Sachs) is taking more of an active role in Citigroup's revival and lets not forgot the largest shareholder, billionaire Prince Alweed hasn't bailed out of Citi yet. I'm sure Eddie is relieved that Citi sold a stake to Abu Dhabi fund for $7.5 billion infusing much need capital.

Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal - Warren Buffett of the "Middle East"

Prince al-Waleed bin Talal bin Ab Al-Saud parlayed a 1979 loan of $30,000 from his father—and a house that he mortgaged for $300,000—into a $20 billion empire. Forbes ranks Al-Waleed as the 8th wealthiest person in the world. He makes his investments through his Kingdom Holding Company.

Prince Al-Waleed Bin Talal makes bold concentrated bets, an uncanny eye for future potential, and a track record which has earned Prince Alwaleed the name “The Midas Prince.”

His most famous purchase was in the 1990s when he bought shares in Citigroup with an initial investment of $550 million. His holdings in Citigroup now comprises half of his wealth worth US$10 billion. He also bought Apple when it was in trouble before the introduction of the iMac and iPod. He uses the "buy and hold" strategy and has yielded him amazing returns over the long term.

The most recent news was with Bill Gates buying the Four Seasons Hotel (FS) for $3.37 billion dollars.
